The U.S. Capitol Police evacuated its headquarters Tuesday due to a “suspicious vehicle” nearby, the department said.

A police dog “indicated interest” in the vehicle, which was located on the same block as the headquarters on the 100 block of D St. in the Northeast section of Washington, D.C., the department said in a tweet.

Police ordered the evacuation “out of an abundance of caution,” the tweet said.

The car and its contents are being investigated by the USCP’s Hazardous Devices section, which is the normal procedure in such circumstances, department spokesperson Brianna Burch told CNBC.

“Thank you for your patience,” the department wrote in a tweet later.
