Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the declined 2.40% to hit a new 3-months low.

The best performers of the session on the were JBS SA (BVMF:), which rose 3.35% or 1.18 points to trade at 36.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF:) added 3.00% or 1.79 points to end at 61.53 and SLC Agricola SA (BVMF:) was up 2.64% or 0.45 points to 17.52 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:), which fell 14.10% or 0.87 points to trade at 5.30 at the close. Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:) declined 13.38% or 0.36 points to end at 2.33 and Lojas Renner SA (BVMF:) was down 10.16% or 1.64 points to 14.50.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 588 to 303 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 14.10% or 0.87 to 5.30.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.93% to 31.99.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 3.00 to $2,661.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.23% or 0.16 to hit $68.88 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.08% or 0.27 to trade at $326.15 .

USD/BRL was up 1.31% to 6.02, while EUR/BRL rose 1.15% to 6.35.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 106.12.
